This 2023 Hennessey Venom F5 is the fifth of a planned 30 roadster variants produced by Hennessey Special Vehicles of Texas. Featuring a carbon-fiber monocoque wrapped in Banner Green carbon-fiber body panels, the car is powered by a Hennessey-developed 6.6-liter Fury V8 that features twin turbochargers and dry-sump lubrication and sends a factory-rated 1,817 horsepower to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automated manual transmission. Additional features include cross-drilled and ventilated carbon-ceramic disc brakes, double-wishbone suspension with adjustable Penske coilover shock absorbers, electrically assisted steering, staggered-dimension polished aluminum wheels, a removable carbon-fiber roof panel, carbon-fiber seats trimmed in black leather, and a carbon-fiber multifunction steering yoke. This Venom F5 roadster has 681 miles. It is now offered in Jonesboro, Arkansas, with a Hennessey-branded Zarges aluminum “treasure chest,” literature, a car cover.
Founded as Hennessey Motorsports in 1991 by John Hennessey near Houston, Texas, Hennessey Performance Engineering has since offered high-performance modifications for a variety of production cars and trucks. In the late 2000s, Hennessey began the development of its own hypercar, which debuted in 2010 as the Lotus-based Venom GT. Aimed at battling for the title of world’s fastest production car, the Venom F5 was unveiled in 2017 before entering production at the newly developed Hennessey Special Vehicles division in 2020.
Named for the highest rating on the Fujita tornado scale, the Venom F5 was initially offered in coupe form before the arrival of a roadster variant in 2022. Construction incorporates a carbon-fiber monocoque underpinned by aluminum alloy subframes and wrapped in carbon-fiber body panels, which on this example are finished in Banner Green with glossy clear-coated accents. Features include a removable exposed carbon-fiber roof panel, butterfly doors hosting pedestal-mounted side mirrors, a front splitter, a rear diffuser, a single-piece exposed carbon-fiber rear panel with milled vents, a tempered-glass engine cover, quad exhaust outlets, and an aluminum nose badge of eight microns in depth.
Polished aluminum alloy wheels measuring 19” in diameter up front and 20” in diameter at the rear feature stylized H-shaped spokes and debossed “Hennessey Roadster” script, and they are secured by titanium lug nuts. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires are mounted, and they measure 265/35 up front and 345/30 at the rear. Suspension incorporates double wishbones and adjustable Penske coilover shock absorbers at each corner, while the car is also equipped with traction control, launch control, electric power steering, and a lift system. Stopping is handled by 390mm cross-drilled and ventilated carbon-ceramic rotors acted upon by black-painted calipers with six pistons at each front wheel and four pistons at each rear wheel.
The cabin houses a pair of carbon-fiber bucket seats trimmed in black leather with Banner Green embroidery. Black leather extends to the dash pad and door panels, while exposed carbon fiber is visible over the sills, console, dash, and firewall. Additional features include air conditioning with a touchpad climate-control knob, a touchscreen infotainment system, a windshield-mounted rearview camera screen, a storage compartment in the passenger footwell, Texas flags on the door handles, and aluminum door hinges with debossed “F5” script.
The carbon-fiber steering yoke is trimmed in black leather with Banner Green contrast stitching. It hosts aluminum paddle shifters as well as a start button, a switch for selection between five drive modes, and controls for the windshield wipers, lighting, and configurable instrument display. The digital odometer shows 681 miles.
A plaque affixed to the console identifies that car as #5 of 30 planned Venom F5 roadsters.
The Hennessey-developed 6.6-liter Fury V8 is based on Chevrolet LS architecture and
